A Stylistic Exploration of A.W. Dray's "Nox Infernus"
A Black Magician's Guide to Immortality, Vampirism and the Necromantic Arts
Opening:
The following is written by Odium and is therefore not an opinion, representation or a recreation of the aforementioned title, author or it's publisher.
Upon first receiving Nox Infernus one is taken back by it's "aesthetics". From it's cover and interior art, to it's page layout which definitively demands the reader to look and commands their attention. It is a numbered hard cover, mine being 152 out of 225 total printed editions. Illustrations are executively created by one Lucas Pandofelli, with the final artistic portfolio plate by the author himself. Also included in the book are "seals" or sigil art. The text also draws on, (against all intensive purposes of the conventional modern social mindset), taboo sinister concoctions and rites from Afro-Cuban, African and Southern Equatorial indigenous cultures.
Forward:
Everything in this book will not be revealed, however much will be disclosed to wet the palette of those potential readers and readers with potential. I endeavor here to give you a glimpse into a world very few are daring enough or psychologically prepared to enter. It is the reality of the Black Flame, the Red Gnosis and the shadow's path.
I was approached with the task of examining this work by the author and Dark Harvest Publishers despite my not being a part of their initiatory psycho-philosophical process, practice, theory and method. Some of the terminology found herein may be familiar to those already having read Nox Infernus and will be for those who have yet to venture upon it's pages. This has been done so as to take not from the work itself , but lend to the readership a familiarization concerning certain key words and terms used by the author. I was given respectively by A.W. Dray and Dark Harvest Publishers free artistic license to stylistic expression regarding my findings and expression through the course of this which was not a mere reading, but that of an experiential nature and nature of experimentation.
Albeit so, it must be stated, that even with over a decades worth of my own secluded Left Hand Path experience and experimentation, I not only became immersed in this text, but immediately became aware of and "felt" the psyche engendered alterations that are comprised in the validity of this work.
I as well, along the way, found a voice for things I have intuitively known for many years, but had not pieced together or consciously given voice to. The culmination of this project has left me forever changed and for those who embark upon it's pages it will most surely change you too. Herein you will meet Charon and death, but be reborn in the dark light of their keep. Momento Mori.
Prelude:
If it is true to be said that success loves preparation then such a tomb as Nox Infernus will with no doubt be the amalgamation in infusion of such dark initiation for those who would seek to enter into the realm of it's twilight wisdom. The vision encompassed within it's pages is a gateway to the furtherance of such understandings that go beyond mere practice, theory and method, but does indelibly touch upon the epi-center of knowledge as yet unrealized by the conventional masses of the occult cultural phenomenon which is the multitudinous "flea market mentality" housing the pseudo-initiate majority who are nothing more than the status quo..the profanum.
In this text you will find the exactitude of time tested hard won efforts disseminated by those who have truly walked between the fractal energetic space planes of not only the contextual worlds of dreaming, but the objective testing ground wherein fact and fantasy end in the stark cold harsh reality of life, death and life in death.
The applications and extensions lent to therein are but a reality unbeknown to the majority of earth-walkers, the human wastrels who are blind to the darkness of their own potentiality, their finite and infinite magnitude. When the sun sets and the daylight ends, it is therewith that the shadow walkers begin, but their beginning is without end, an end which has no beginning. Even as within the elusive dawning of the realm of light, those shadow spaces quietly exist, waiting for the emergence of their shadow speak. Within the pages of Nox Infernus the shadows do speak, they are given a voice. Not one sequentially contrived and calculated by the occult mumblings and meandering from the disparaging verbiage born from a generation var dilettantes, mock hierophants and supposed emperors of quizzically hidden information, but by the shadow realms themselves as spoken through a companion, one who has befriended the, black dragon of death, therewith bringing it's flame burning forth as the red noesis and epistemology of not only the shadows being, but also it's becoming.
With an empathetic heart, will and might these wings of darkness shall enfold around you, and bide upon you. If one is mindfully open they will beckon unto thee as a mist in the shadowy realms of your very own existence. This is no mere "how to" manual. This is the guilded craft of those who have walked the path of the "broad and wide" into the outer manifestations of realities normally unperceived. So for those who would set set their feet upon the doorstep of a blood red paradise, those predisposed with a diabolic predilection, then the black waters of the River Styx await, reverberating the quietly lapping oars of Charon upon the shores wherein the obsidian path lies, in the tradition of the left.
Such could be subjectively played with in dreams as the staging of Hades in an endarkened reinterpretation of the Eleusinian mysteries and it's thrice phase cycle. However in the left path way it is as an ascension to worldly power in the time which is now, a call from the triumphant dwellers in the abyss of the underworld, that of the Elysium. It is here that Tartarus is found beckoning from deep below. This is the black hand of glory and the way of the left.
What you will gain from this book is not dogma, nor transparent empty platitudes of occult ramblings from the unneeded complications via the mass marketed overly systematic creations from dullards found polluting the present era "followers of commonality". What you will find in fact will be quite the opposite..despite my own theatrical stylistic presentation.
You will find the uncommon, that which treads off the beaten path, leading you not to formula and ritual akin to religiosity, but a bridge into the dark individuality of your very own being.
Along the way though you will not be alone for the lurkers in the shadows will be at watch, forever laying in wait and mentoring you, if you are of the strong disposition again to that of a sincere heart and a diabolic predilection. In one sense you will be alone, like a sentry dutifully and honorably fulfilling a warriors task, but you will never be lonely for the realms of the Nox Infernus will always be at your side, lurking in the shadows until the blossoming of one, you the black lotus, the everlasting rises in infernal infamy.
May you herein drink deep from the well of wonderment in the becoming of one who is as a Laurifer Sorcerer!
And so now, let us begin our journey into a chapter by chapter stylistic exploration of: A.W. Dray's "Nox Infernus"; A Black Magician's Guide to Immortality, Vampirism and the Necromantic Arts...
[For brevity's sake the reader may consider the word Sorcerer and Sorceress to imply the same meaning. Although in some instances they may be used as terms in distinction].
Chapter #1 Those Who Walk with Death:
Throughout this book is a strong emphasis on "as is with the left way" often referred to as...knowing through one's body, not just the mind, psyche or intellect. It is a harkening back to the Eastern origins in antiquity of the Left Hand Path.
However there is also an amalgamation towards a modern Western Left Hand Path approach via one's distinction in individual conscious extension which again yet remains a process of understanding which has had it's foothold in Eastern philos from the earliest of humanity's efforts in desiring to go beyond the world of the flesh and triumph within the land of shadows beyond death's door.
In this first chapter you will begin to conceptualize and understand what's needed in order to transcend what has been called the "dayside" awareness of our common conventional status quo culture and re-orientate your mind into the "nightside" awareness that stands patiently waiting before the door of death, even that which is inevitably your own.
You will learn to make peace with this "fact of life" and befriend it so in re-defining and revitalizing in no short order...one's very own life. In this brief but paramount chapter the first door will be opened to internalizing the warrior sorcerer's way in unlocking death's door and entering the realm of shadows.
Here one will learn about not only one's becoming in the deification of death, but it's defiance itself. Essentially you will learn the primer of becoming like unto death itself. You will comprehend the essence of the taker of life thereby extending your own.
Chapter #2 The Vampire's Assemblage:
In this portion of the book a supreme distinction has been made between a prior term so over used so as to become the occult culture's common parlance. "Spirituality" has been a term used to express experiences that often lie beyond normal human perception and comprehension. In this book finally the doorway to this old stale maelstrom of thought is vanquished towards the clarity and reality underlying such stellar human experiences of the unknown. It is not mysticism, the supernatural or spirituality, but a more immanent Left Hand Path occurrence in transition; "energetic manifestation".
This is the foundation upon which our universe and multi-verses behind it coalesce and reside inter-dependent and all-inclusive. This rises above the trash pile of latter day thought mechanics and breaks through the walls of stale occultism, long standing preconceived notions and superstitions. With it however is neither a beginning nor an end and for itself it stands upon the very building blocks of future understandings as spoken through the limitless boundaries of time, space and eldritch sorcery.
Chapter #3 Black Amber:
Vampiric detachment is the coup de gras of this installment of the text. There is a call here in for a non-dualistic redeployment of one's perceptual awareness. It addresses the fragmentary inertia and stasis that is dealt with as combated on a psychological front so that the shadow path may transcend the objective multi-mass constructed collective consciousness pertaining to society and the culture where in it dwells. This to achieve an isolate distinct and uncommon unique quality engendering that which is unlike the majority of human meat sacks inhabiting this, our shared world.
The teaching henceforth is to envelope oneself in a subjective psychological framework which will strengthen, not weaken the isolate potential of the Sorcerer. Lastly the author sets an annulment between mere Sorcery and Vampiric Sorcery, the latter being beyond simple energy deployment, but venturing into at the same time vicious acts of energy gathering...or as I'd like to say "taking".
Chapter #4 The Sleep Chamber:
Let's face it, we are human animals and sleep is a necessary fact of life. For some it is a dull act of falling into the waters of forgetfulness, but for a rare few the Sleep Chamber is a special place put aside for the sacrosanct purpose of rest, re-invigoration and the land of the dreamscape.
At no time in human culture has there been such a denial to cherish the ability to sleep and sleep well; so it seems. Physicians have "sleep studies" and pharmaceutical companies compete to design and perfect "the sleeping pill". It simply shows and reaffirms to the Vampiric Sorcerer that humanity is sick on an energetic level and a proper "Sleeping Room" or Chamber, is a valid option. That is lest one becomes like unto the energetically weak just waiting to be sucked dry by a dark knight, at least it would be a kind end to their miserable drone like experience!
In this chapter appropriations, recommendations and insights are lent towards the creation of one's own Vampiric Chamber. The suggestion of a coffin is even given a look at as well as aesthetics, white noise, generation of air flow and other devices to compliment not only peace and rest, but dreaming. Suggestions are also made to ritualistically adorn your environment within this, your house of etheric wonderment.
This will be a dwelling radically disassociated with the the dayside world of light, inviting, if not invoking, the powers of the night and death as dwellers, companions and friends. In these operations and the applications of extension this will surely manifest as a charged paradigm shift advantageous to the process, experiments and work that will occur within this space.
The room itself shall be a catalyst engendering an energetic field of manifestation unto like no other. It will be a private place wherein the things of which are normally unspoken will engage you with their presence and be known.
Chapter #5 Feeding the Shadow:
First and foremost one must ask the question, how hungry are you for the reality you are about to confront? Do you want it and all that it affords and will give you in return, give back to that state of being?
Then if the answer is yes for every breath of the dark mists you must be prepared to give back amorously to the demons of the abyss, the lurkers in the shadows and the gentle inauguration of your marriage with death. This requires the thrill of the hunt, the psycho-sexual desire of a ravisher and a strict and unwavering adherence to a disciplinary self constitution.
Herein you will learn what it takes to extend the alternate reality of your dayside persona and personality into a shadow stalker as likened unto the Norseman's "Well of Wyrd". This chapter will advise you of these most dangerous deployments, upon which if successful you could gain the astounding power of the dark seers of lore and legend.
There is a sex-death dichotomy that will not be shared in this treatise save to say that unrequited kundalini as in Asiatic esoterica is examined and explored as a reservoir of honed power lest it cause harm in it's relentless measurement of evocation. As a sure sign that the lightning fire of ones sexual manipulation and force of intent, this is where chaos is transfigured into recognizable energy transformation as the feeding of the shadow self and the dwellers who hide on the other side of the obsidian mask balancing the matrix of realities both seen and unseen, both known and unknown.
Strengthening or feeding the shadow will increase not only your nightside awareness, but your dayside dominance and perceptual calculations. This chapter will teach you how to merge "the darkness" and "your shadow" into an indistinguishable able, yet interdependent identity.
Following this chapter's end are three time tested deviant and nefarious applications taboo to the modern common Western exoteric mindset. They are of sinister fetishistic concoctions and rites from Afro-Cuban, African and Southern Equatorial indigenous cultures as well as a postmodern yet elder noir feeding ritual. From this comes those three things to which I shall only partially speak, a powder mixture, a dark bi-annual rite utilizing the aforementioned material in the iconographic..feeding of one's shadow. This is followed by an Asiatic esoteric use of controlled breathing (prana) accompanied by the use of a "Black Mirror Working".
As far as those non-nouveau ingredients and further information concerning such concoctions, rites and so on, you'll have to purchase the text to obtain this knowledge.
Chapter #6 Sigils for the Next World:
So here we come to Chapter Six and now it is time to cross the River Styx. Here we have the calling forth in symbolic representation the adoration of beings and the issuing forth of several means by which these summonings may be done.
There is also the presentation of creating an individual sigil whereby a Sorcerer may serve as an icon to be called upon after their corporeal existence has ended by others whom relate to the energetic ambiance of the non-mortal, or dare I say immortal iconoclast, so they may be called up from the realm of the dead.
The real demons of this immanent existence whose power and memory stands upon the shores of transcendental mystery in what reservoirs of power or energy fields, revolve in their wake and our abilities to call them forth when the necromantic arts are employed is here addressed. A.W. Dray points us towards optimizing again the power of dreaming to obtain a key from the subconscious to unlock the gate to this aspect of sorcery.
It now is given voice to the old saying.."he who bares the mark". Although make no mistake the legions of Lylyth and her "she-devi" also lay in wait, forget not the ferocity of one's feminine spawns of hell.
Dray inclines the Sorcerer to create their own individual iconography, their own sigil as a talisman of one's own power, might and manifestation. Other implements unique to the Sorcerer are also advised as earthly momento mori as he hints of high necromancy; and the elder traditions of oral only "handed down transmissions" which is a "hallmark" upon the actual Left Hand Path.
The author leaves us with this truly secret, truly occult understanding as he then goes forth onto to the next chapter.
Chapter #7 The Ghul:
Upon coming to this chapter we are taught that the path of the lone wolf needn't be a lonely one. The subjective, or dare I say objective intent is the creation of an egregore, servitor or familiar, an inorganic creation which will grow from a mere pup into that of a Cerberus, the Sorcerer's allie.
Again A.W. Dray pulls from the most unique worlds of lore and transforms them into "technologies" from beyond. He even lends to a merging of consciousness with the shadow being, using it in a way that is very mercenary in it's approach. This is where the book really starts to "heat up" and although the Left Hand Path is an amoral one, if ever the word evil were to be employed, it is at this very point. Just the chosen term Ghul is enough to solidify the extreme turn that this writing now ventures towards.
The Ghul is and essentially becomes the Sorcerer's "bodyguard" if you will during the dayside and entirety of their material and non-material existence, as well as their agent, spy and operative companion. The Ghul in this context is both a guardian as well as an extension of the Sorcerer. There is a sex-death dichotomy likened to that of the incubus-subcubus lore, yet ever controlled by the Sorcerer or Sorceress in a master-slave relationship. It is both butler or maid and is to be designed to serve the commands, needs and wants of it's arbiter. The Ghul and the master will eventually mirror one another in the service of co-operative ends. There is again a psycho-sexual and psyche centered union in which energy exchange is of utmost importance. There is an AC/DC relationship that occurs as well as mutual feeding techniques discussed along with the "Sealing" of the Ghul.
Again mid-chapter is a sexual suggestion not for the erotically timid or faint of heart...this is not your grandfather's occult book! This is a hardcore manual wherein only the bold should tread, if to take on at all to begin with. How you accomplish these ends is entirely up to you, you may use a consort as a surrogate medium or dare to step upon the platform of auto-erotica...it's your decision. As with all stylistic explorations of this book I am not going to mention the inherent contents of the work..in some aspects. Again upon that precipice of knowledge overlooking the cliffs of potentiality in this is an area in which you will have to take that first step of action in consecration, endeavoring to spy it's pages once you have obtained this mysterious but awesomely dark work of art.
Chapter #8 The False Brotherhood:
Recommended here is malicious psychopathy or "feeding on the weak". Again as in the last chapter the word evil aptly applies. In a paradox of common social ethics is a replacement of diabolic ones, not stealing innocence, but feeding on the wastes of human society and culture. Here one is taught to "befriend the enemy" and then..suck them dry!
One is advised to create a "prevent defense" as a coup d'état, even if only on one victim, towards furthering a relationship of dependency. This is psychologically operative magic in the material realm, that of sheep's to the slaughter, and also one of dream invasion. A.W. Dray continually supports the properties of "controlled dreaming" throughout his book. This is also a chapter in which additional activities such as hypnotism and neuro-linguistic programming would serve as a quality tool. Something to consider heavily at the close of this chapter.
This book is..no joke, and hits hard into the morality compass of the socially brainwashed drones compelled from birth, programmed if you will to "Obey the Laws of God and Man". This is not a book for those types of people, this is a book for the antinomians who dwell on the outer fringes of the norm and have recreated their own standards and practices, defining for themselves what is and is not acceptable. This chapter separates the wheat from the chaff, the mice from the men, the psychophants from the iconoclasts and the truly devious feminine creatures from their weak Pollyanna socially conforming counter parts.
Chapter #9 Elemental Infernus:
First approached here is the intimate relationship between the Commander and the commanded, as well as a far greater affinity with the organic and inorganic energy fields that abound and are oft unrecognized by the untrained in such areas of psyche centered adeptship. These are exemplified as the forces of the natural world and their underlying rooting in not only the physical, but physics itself. To the non-initiate this is "supernatural", but to the burgeoning master it is as natural as nature herself. This is an exploration of the power underlying what the majority of human animals, lost to their own natural senses are obscure processes of perception, for in this they are blind to, and have taken it for granted.
Control of such subjective-objective intra-understanding constructs such as time and linear consciousness are examined as in addition to the primordial awareness of ipso facto bloodlines and earthly portals of empowerment. The intent suggested is to empower one's identity and shadow nature. An acknowledgement of the lust for life is here coupled with the befriending of death as if but a supreme "tour guide" in the importance and trivialities of living. An intimate acquaintance if not relationship with death is suggested towards an ability to learn how to slow the mind's apprehension or comprehension of time so as to implement unknown, uncharted and unexplored possibilities in the realm of the trident of living.
To live in the now is a Left Hand Path pretense, but then again to live in the totality of understanding the now is a left way actualization that only a very rare few can grasp. This area of the book delves headlong into that most important precept. This is the beautifier of earthly wonderment.
Chapter #10 Configurations in Darkness:
In this treatment "Darkness" is recognized as an elementary force in an of itself. Whereas in divergent understandings it would clarify the matter to say what has been stated by wholly light based magicians as they lay claim to, or are in their oft expressing of the manifestation of invoking "Light" as being "uplifting" or experience it as a "thinning of the air"; those who have been called "Black Magicians" know the presence of darkness in the chamber, environment or world around them as a "thick" and tangible manifestation.
One who has truly experienced the beauty of the dark force knows that it's sinews resonate and adhere to all life expanding one's awareness in actualization's unimaginable and intangible to those who are incapable of perceiving it's presence. Some fear it, some are repelled by it, some are mystified by it, but it is a very rare few who can unify with it and conceptualize the infinity of it's atomic and subatomic nature.
Here the author examines the inter-meshing of the dark spaces between the body of the flesh and the time warp land of dreams. From it's farthest reaches through an abyss of introspection one will come to understand that beyond all the planets, stars and nebulas is the quietude of the darkness..and it is peaceful. Just as the darkness of a mother's womb before we are born "into the world of light", the blackness of the shadow realm is nurturing, comforting and as the ancients of this, our shared world, called it...Mother Night, the Great Birther of the Cosmos!
Chapter #11 Shadow Manipulation:
Shadow consciousness, manipulation and transference is a compatible imaginative casting forth of egregoric manifestation in action towards intelligence gathering, this through shape-shifting of the psyche. This is not..Sorcery 101, this is psychologically operative on a level totally transitional from dayside awareness. This is espionage, scouting into the outer realms where only the void exists and the force of flight is but a guide in the bastion of the night's watch and the dream weaver's skills to cast the spider's web and bring forth visions from the fields of combat, that of blood and stone. You have to have the heart and tenacity of a warrior to enter into these fractal realms and if so from the planes of wonderment you will encounter they will bring you beyond that of the mere "philosopher's stone", but to a rock of continuity that ushers forth the secrets of what has been called in "Black Orders" since time immemorial..the dark-light.
From the lessons in this chapter you will awaken as a warrior, battle-hardened, battle-worn, but unbowed to the shrill shriek of the black hawk. The hawking power that you yourself have sent forth will come back bearing gifts of plucked out eyes and the brain pulp of those you seek. This has often been called "remote viewing" and from this chapter you will not only learn of such things, but also capabilities that are far reaching beyond that of a mere..psy-spy.
Chapter #12 Formula of Dispersion:
The progenitor "Chaos" is a reservoir, so in all due hast..tap the well! Here is examined ideals regarding the latter day Modern Western Occultist view which to some at this point might seem as an oxymora, but let us continue.
Several aptitudes for looking at and understanding "reality" as we know it are taken into consideration as a lesson for bringing one from thesis and anti-thesis to synthesis..and beyond to what could be born unto us as a "Post-Modern" Western Occultism, albeit a very dark one indeed.
The Old Thesis:
It begins with the idea of the cosmic coalescence of nature as joyful creation and suffering as a temporal condition of the mind-body complex. Within that such a matrix has been born into exploration and continues for some to this very day. This is all they know.
The New and Old Anti-Thesis:
Next looked upon is complete detachment, the ebion from the Eastern shores of Taoism, for which we might have in a virtual modern intellect the understanding of philos such as Nihilism side barred by Holology. This is the neutrality of the amoralist, which could be in two words "formless absorption".
The Noir Synthesis:
Fundamentally and philosophically humanity has battled with duality vs non-duality time and time again, this needn't be. So it is therefore that we are now then brought before dispersion, separate and again detached, but not insofar as being brought away from the joy of the cosmos or nature itself. Not in anyway a backlash from total formlessness as absorption, but to the pure realization of life as a harsh reality. Here we are confronted with a multitudinous array of energetic currents, paradigms, the fundamental cosmic laws of physics, both seemingly common (natural) and seemingly abstract or (un-natural). One can liken this to the difference between a circle and an angle.
However, beyond all such intellectual novelties is the fact that the human animal is both unified and distinct in nature. Beyond all that we know however is what? I chuckle with the thought that I've learned never to put a question mark where death puts a period.
From a Left Hand Path perspective I would give precedence though to put it as thus. Beyond all is the infinite black of outer space and it is from that primordial darkness that individual conscious continuance continues to beckon. It is the birther of existence, life and that which issued forth the sire of what could be called in a dark tradition..the Black Vajra.
Left Hand Path Sorcery deals with unification, expansion and singularity. It brings one to the limits of the known and like a rocket vaults one over, beyond and through transcending the immanent limitations of that which prior to one's exploration was the unknown. It is therein that the limitless black of our awareness of the unknown transfigures into a reality unfathomed to those not daring enough to tread such un-ventured worlds wherein only the bravest of warrior hearts might enter.
Herewith is my chapter analysis, for the actual chapter contents and to derive your own interpretation of the author's thoughts on where occultism has come from in the past up to the present day you'll have to purchase the book itself.
Chapter # 13 The Reservoir of Failure:
The immanent domain of the Sorcerer is impeccable intent, without this dead on unwavering precisely measured accuracy there will be pitfalls. These are the hard learned lessons that all who venture into the abstract nature of the subconscious, the psyche and ultra-psychological processes will incur from time to time.
Here five event failures are explored culminating with a psycho-energetic re-evaluation and decomposition. One's review here is to evaluate, counter-introspect and analyze prior to attempting psychological extensions of energetic manifestations. Therefore you will set your standards for operative applications and extensions at a higher level for success and reduce what could be called "impulse magic" thereby reducing your rate of self implosion.
Fire can bring beneficial results just as easily as it can consume one in an inferno of disaster. Know your priorities and set them in order BEFORE a "working" of any kind. There is no room for aberrations of the mind once the conductor has started the concert. Do not start the engine unless you know how to drive the vehicle of your own conscious and subconscious manifestations.
This chapter ends with what is called energy retrieval, as Mr. Dray puts it. Essentially a corrective measure to a reservoir of failure.
Chapter #14 Shrines of Vampiric Masters and the Masks of Oblivion:
In reflection of age old traditions are we here confronted with the preservation of the corporeal remains of the Sorcerer, their ritual implements as well as the procurement of a "Death Mask" and the legal arrangements required to assure the security of such items. The left hand skeletal remains are considered of utmost importance, whereas other bones of the deceased Sorcerer may be handed down to an apprentice and then fabricated for the use of denizens of power for remaining legions within the Sorcerer's "Order".
The mask should be fabricated and dispensed to members of the "Order" in a translucent resin, preferably in darker cast colors which can then be illuminated via a votive candle or another source of dim ambient light for purposes of necromantic communication rites.
This qualitative aesthetic will be the focal point of a shrine to the dead (or un-dead) master. The idea here is to commune with the memory of the master and his or her teachings.
Further rites and ritual consecrations concerning this venture are to follow in the "oral only fashion" of the Left Hand Path and to deviate from such "pacts" serves only to weaken the necromantic tie.
Chapter #15 Black Flame Red Gnosis:
Vampiric Gnosis is tantamount to stretching one's mind, psyche and psychological boundaries to the limits of their breaking points. While others disdain or abhor this approach the Vampiric Sorcerer is not only drawn to this, what others might call insane exploration and experimentation, but seeks to strengthen, control and master it. It is the illumination of the Black Flame to us, to others it is Dante's Inferno.
The gnosis spoken of is that which deals with death, psychopathic alterations of the mind's eye towards fully understanding the "nature of the beast" in all it's malicious, calculated and contrived actualizations. This is also a large part of the Red Gnosis of a warrior heart, the vicissitude of the hunt, as well as a sex-death thrill kill dichotomy. It is here where the thin line between life and death is internalized, comprehended and realized as the universal truth for which it is.
This chapter finishes out with actual accounts of practices, "not for the faint of heart", coming from indigenous traditions of non-western origin and lends an understanding to their applications and uses.
Chapter #16 Rite of Burial:
The earth and it's soils are of unique importance and power in regard to the Sorcery as entailed in this book. It is the hallmark of not only our beginning, but of our corporeal end..ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
This work not only stands upon the precipice of the extensions of the psyche, eldritch forms of South American, Afro-Cuban and African taboo based magic, but also a healthy veneration of our home, our planet, it's source of power..the mother earth. It is our plane of existence, life, energy, being, becoming, and ultimately death.
This chapter covers an immersion rite to dwell within the confines of the earth. It is a pseudo-burial exploration of not only the living earth and it's energy, but death itself. This again is "not for the faint of heart", as it is a "Total Immersion Sealing Rite", however it is also a rite of transformation, rejuvenation and perceptual enhancement. Great care should be taken in this operation and the author gives several accounts on various methods on how to employ it's use.
It is also of note that this is specifically a nocturnal rite of passage from start to completion. The author then continues with effects of the subconscious, visualization, dreaming, and he continues with a pre-fire rite including sigil work, acknowledgement of shadow presence and a closing rite again utilizing a sigil.
This I have found to be thee most evocative rite of the book. It concerns itself with death, rebirth, nightside earthen reverberations, rejuvenation and the death-life diametrical awareness where paradox and juxtaposition of our conscious and subconscious realities blend into one astounding transformation which transports thee beyond the perceptions of conventional understanding and precognitive states.
Chapter #17 Ancestral Confrontation:
Collectively speaking humanity both abhors and at the same time silently wishes for death, this is not the same as the poison called "The Death Urge" which is explored in this chapter but is more akin to those lack luster human wastes, "walking zombies to compulsion" who disrespect even their own life blood. These types are as the "False Brotherhood" explored in Chapter Eight.
Here though for the Sorcerer it is often the case, (unless raised in a family lineage of generational practitioners as one's heritage), that the Sorcerer will be the "Black Sheep" so to speak of their family.
Here the author explores the measures required in order to disassociate from familial distractions, to recreate, sustain oneself and cut the ties that bind one to those who are without similar understanding. However, as a side note you may discover that somewhere along your family line there may have been a fellow Witch, Warlock, Sorceress, Sorcerer, - etc., who in retrospect may very well have set up an energetic projection via the bloodlines to establish the furtherance of the "Gift" within the matrix of their own genetic code.
Never the less if it is you then a lone wolf you will be to the family name as "they are", but that doesn't mean you can't be..sly as a fox! As for the cutting of ties in most families, especially in this societal era of culturally dysfunctional families A.W. Dray has a few suggestions for breaking superficial bonds, which only seek to "tap-out" and drain the Sorcerer to begin with.
Imagine a family function that one absolutely only went to out of obligation only and the energy depletion derived out of all the fake smiles and phony hellos. Even for the Sorcerer who radiates from a healthy family heritage or a magical lineage there will come a time when you must proclaim your independence, manhood or matriarchy and assert that individual spark innate in all who walk with shadows, speak with shadows and sleep in the dark embrace of the shadow's silent, but powerful might.
All initiatory garnered groups have for ages used the power of "re-naming". From tribes of the Native Americans to the latter day mafia organizations and gangs which found a home on that same continent. It is a rite of passage and this portion of the book therefore deals with the idea, purpose and employment of naming. Even the most personal of all, to be shared with no one lest the sickle of Azrael divide you from your conscious awareness and send you into the "waters of forgetfulness".
The end premise of this chapter is simple..some secrets are never to be revealed!
Chapter #18 Substance Flesh and Blood:
This chapter deals with redefining one's worldly conscious existence. This is a paradigm shift from one modern set of societal and cultural norms to a much older, realistic, harsh and warrior based awakening. With this is a complete transformation, re-configuration, re-energizing, and conscious re-awakening of one's diabolic predilection. Part of this re-internalizing is not just of one's mere philosophical view on the world or their ability to think in psychologically deviant and aberrant machinations, so much as it will be to wholly re-adjust one's being into an "energy manipulator", albeit as "noxious" as it may sound to the uninitiated..the pro fanum.
No longer being constituted of normal awareness you will become "possessed" by an "infernal" one. This is where day and night have no boundaries for the Vampire and when in this state or level of being one must re-condition one's health through not just the mind, but also through the body and it's dietary requirements which will far exceed previous standards of consumption.
Henceforth A.W. Dray here suggests Eastern oriented food preparations such as "raw foods" that in Hindu esoterica are more prone to contain "prana". He also suggests hunting as a quick kill diet being that the vital salts of life are immanently contained in recently deceased (non-human) animal meat. As of an especial note this book in no way suggests cannibalism!
Types of plant based life are also explored as well as the aforementioned "raw meat feeding" as is seen in Japanese sushi eating. Cooked meat is briefly noted, however one should indulge themselves in such meats as with a "bloody rare steak". You are better to cook it yourself due to current department of health codes in various domains for which this practice is against the law. By and large your order will be rejected and supplemented with a "medium cooked" meat. The biggest lesson here is to try to stay away from processed foods and eat healthy natural foods.
Later in this chapter Dray goes into a modus operandi again, not for the faint of heart. It is nefarious, deviant and sickly sweet, but demonically evocative! He goes into a sadistic but willing master-slave relationship wherein you will taste "the truth" of the Vampire's energetic manifestation. This is also complimented by psyche strengthening practices and willful extensions. A strong emphasis here too is made for the use and control of "prana".
Other esoteric practices of Sorcery are given in addition to and as a companion of the aforementioned, but for that you will have to read the book.
Chapter #19 Funerary Rites of the Sorcerer:
Exploring this chapter I will begin with a stylistic impression of it first and then cut to the meat of it's contents...
Beyond the threshold of death consummates the living breath of the Vampiric existence, but the Vampiric Sorcerer need not depart the corporeal realm in order to wed the darkness, only inter-mesh one's totality of being within the reverberations of and in concert with the ethereal darkness of the living.
This is the "point break" of cognitive perception. This is the fortification of potential through time shift allotments which allow for the extended configuration to portal entry into the slow down effect for which the courtesans of physical existence serve you, the Vampiric Sorcerer, in the continuance of your ever lasting vessel.
The corpus leviticus is this verily living life blood of the triumphant morior invictus towards the indwelling surge of power of life through death and death through life. Now you have become the living shadow, the concerto of the shadows that lie in the quiet spaces, eschewing the light of the sun. It is now that you beckon and command these shadows even during the dayside existence.
It is here that you have become the shadow keeper, the soul reaper, the master of time and the living portal to realms beyond the living where only is heard the lapping shores of the River Styx and the creeping ore's of Charon.
Just when you thought this book couldn't get anymore infamous or notorious A.W. Dray brings to us again eldritch Sorcery having not saw the light of day in more than a millennium. So here further in the chapter is explored astral possession and psychic infanticide wherein the Sorcerer near the end of his or her corporeal existence willingly assisted by a devotee and fellow in his or her legion possesses the zygote or fetus of a female Vampiric Sorceress. With such is the extracting of the in dwelling "energy-being", in again the zygote or fetus stage, entering it's abode in the womb to essentially be..re-born, a sort of demonic reincarnation.
Let it be said that very few masters will by sheer force of this endeavor be birthed with full conscious awareness intact. Therefore it will be the task of the maternal Sorceress to guide the "re-born master" away from the waters of forgetfulness and bring them unto the shores of remembrance. This is what could be called the willful - "Rosemary's Baby" experiment.
If this is not astounding enough the author then suggests the astral possession of living adults! The possibilities are fantastical, but imagine moving from body to body in the event of corporeal life extension. Liken this to the demon Azazel in the 1998 film "Fallen". The author suggests choosing those who do not especially value their lives. Those who are corruptly disrespecting the life force and with that one would be ridding the world of a pest.
Lastly Dray examines a method of South American Sorcerers and the Sorcerers who are entombed beneath the ever dreaming sands of time.
Chapter #20 Stalking Vitality:
Sorcery as perceptual liberation in spacial, fractal and abstract intent is the tone of this chapter. Sapping the youth of vitality from the organic or inorganic..energetic storhaus, re-patterning one's totality of being so as to control the aging process and maintaining the strength of a warrior.
Think of how many times you have encountered a person who appears to be in their sixties only to learn they are in their eighties! There are many who walk among us who naturally or non-ordinarily are masters of this process whether they are willfully doing this or naturally gifted possessing such abilities either unbeknown to themselves, or handed down genetically. Some may even..know but not tell, having not even read such works as "Nox Infernus", it's parent books or the ancient sources it draws on. There are real world Vampiric Sorcerers all amongst us, it would do well to recognize and acquaint with them if you can. Subversively they might teach you a trick or two!
In the finality of this chapter Dray takes the fourth of Don Juan's "The Four Natural Enemies" from Carlos Castaneda's first book "The Teaching's of Don Juan - a Yakui Way of Knowledge" to an entirely different level in a modern exposé exploring it in the context of our present era. He gives advice and tips on how to not only stay young in body, mind and heart, but be youthful in a way that does not cross-cut cultural and social boundaries, so as to be discrete!
This chapter is the strength of the would be warrior and ends with a warning to the arm chair occultist...
Chapter #21 Power Objects of the Vampire:
The Vampire is rooted in the immanent Left Hand Path, but enters the transcendental Left Hand Path through the esoteric vocation of dreaming within the realms of the dead, connecting with this arcane realm is a vital role of the Sorcerer in becoming the undead..or that which eternally lays in wake.
In this last chapter again we are reminded and confronted with amalgamating the dayside and the nightside realities into one whole transcendent conscious application of power, playing it as..a master of reality. A co-operative integration hell bent on the ultimate intent of control factors required for precision cutting, creating, reforming and defining ourselves and the world before us as the..emperor of our domain is the fact in point of Dray's final chapter.
Dray leaves us with the following:
Power Objects; the Sorcerer is advised to enter a state of controlled dreaming to become aware of their objects of power and then where to seek them out in the material realm. In fact every facet of this book resonates a dream theater conscious environment wherein one is fully aware of themselves and their actions, reactions, choices and purposeful intent while in the dream state of being. While in any dream state you are to be the arbiter of force, willfully exercising your conscious self awareness albeit in a subconscious state.
You are the dream weaver and the stage although set within varied forms of awareness is yours to play or prey upon. For you are the predator whether in lucid or archetypical states within the land of dreams, which is for the Vampiric Sorcerer..the world of wakeful sleep.
The Vampire always plays a role or is a key component in the dreaming process and is not a mere pawn in the scheme.
This chapter ends with five recommended..Power Objects.
1) The Ring. 2) The Vampire's Belt. 3) The Hammer of Death. 4) The Black Mirror and 5) The Scepter.
For a full and detailed description of these power objects; their meanings, intent, purpose, sorcery and application significance you will have to read: "Nox Infernus - The Black Magician's Guide to Immortality, Vampirism and the Necromantic Arts".
Addendum:
My only criticism of this book is that it could of went into more detail. "Nox Infernus" however is the starting point, the bridge to greater conceptualization, it most definitely is a "power object" all of it's own. It is a cherished book which I will wrap and conceal amongst my belongings and I highly recommend that any and all of those who have read this, seek it out and possess it, as it will most definitely possess you too.
As it has been said.."the devil is in the details", but then again that responsibility lies upon the reader because.."the details are in you". There are wonders which exist for with those in whom have the key. The key to unlock the gate, and that key lays within.
With passion, tenacity and dedication through these things you will gain fearlessness, clarity and power. You will know what the shadows know, you will have the wisdom of the shades. Here you will find the peaceful voice of darkness guiding you into your transition and transformation. May death guide you in living the reality of the Sorcerer's Pledge. Unto the edges of the fractal planes and the triumphs of your earthly success, shall the darkness of the for-ever-more be with you.
